THE LEAGUE CODE BENEFIT FOR GROUNDSMAN The management committee of the Auckland Rugby League decided last evening to play a return match between the Maoris and Pakehas on October 13. The chairman, Mr J. W. Watson, said it would be a testimonial benefit to A. Asher, a great player in his time in both Rugh.* and League football. He added that Asher, who was caretaker of Carlaw Park, was leaving for Tauranga at the end of the season, and it would be a fitting farewell to terminate his association with the code. The return game between South Auckland and Auckland was fixed for September 20 at Huntly, and that between Wellington and Auckland at Wellington for September 8. Mr Watson made reference to the tour of the first Auckland primary schools' team, which left on Tuesday to play games on the West Coast, Christchurch and Wellington. Ho said that those responsible for the trip were to be complimented. It was decided that, should the same team win both the minor mid major championships, the runncr-up in the major competition will play Iho winner of the Roope Rooster series in the chnmpion of champions game.
