AUCKLAND EXCHANGE FIRM CONDITIONS RULE Activity was less marked on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday but conditions remained firm with all price revisions in favour of sellers. The demand showed little change from that recently ruling hut in some cases margins were narrowed by concessions from sellers anxious to come to terms.

COLES' RESULT INCREASE IN EARNINGS Net *arnlngs of G. J. Coles and Co.. Melbourne, for the year ended June 80 were £171,401, compared with £148,999 in the previous year and £150,142 in 1942-43. Depreciation allowance was £93,954, against £90,105 Preference dividend of 8 per cent absorbs £12,000 and ordinary dividend, unchanged at 10 per cent, requires X129.1.Y2. The sum of £30,000 is transferred to reserve (against £BOOO in 19-14) and £31!) is carried forward, against £7O brought in. Auckland Meat Company, Ltd., Is paying a final dividend of 4 per cent on August 27, making 7'/? per cent (unchanged) for the year. RECORD BREWERY PROFIT A record net profit of £121,063 is reported by Queensland Brewery, Ltd., for the year ended June. 30. The increase on the year is £6255. The prodt has risen from £71,140 In three years. Higher earnings have resulted from requirements of the Allied services, the directors explain. These requirements are decreasing and in addition malt is being rationed because of a short supply. Dividends are unchanged at 7 per cent ordinary and 5'4 per cent preference, requiring in all £81,278. A sum of £lO, OIK) is placed lo reserve.
