KARITANE NURSES PLANS FOR BUREAUX (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Monday "Representatives of the National Service Department approached the council of the Plunket Society some months ago," said Mrs James Begg, president of the society, who at present is in Wellington, in a statement today. "They wished that some manpower control should be extended to Karitane nurses, so that the services of this trained group might be better utilised to help those mothers most in need of them. In the hope of being able to help mothers and, at the same time, safeguard the interests and health of the Karitane nurses, the council decided to set up hureaufc in the main centres. "This scheme was nearly ready to put into operation, but the announcement on Friday of some lifting of the manpower regulations for women over 30 years of age may alter the scope of the bureaux. It is my intention to consult my executive about the matter immediately on my return to Dunedin." • - ...
