AUCKLAND EXCHANGE STRONG GAINS REGISTERED Solid gains in share levels on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday gave evidence of investors' first reaction to the advent of peace. With many orders in the market, buying support carried levels to new peaks in some cases and recovered previous ground lost in others. Bank of New Zea lands were again prominent, changing hands 4d higher at 51s. At this price the shares are back at the highest level attained during the ten years of Labour Government. First reaching this level in .June last, the shares fell in the meantime to as low as 49s before the recovery commenced. Interest was also outstanding in trading and industrial issues. Dominion Breweries' record price was lifted 3d to o2s 3d. Farmers Tradings recovered to their highest level of 28s 3d on a turnover of 460 shares, while a keen demand set in for Reid Rubbers, which registered sharp advances CLOSING QUOTATIONS Changed quotations on yesterday's sharemarket, were:—

I REDUCED MARINE RISKS j BRITISH COVER TO CEASE Further reductions in marine war risk rates have been issuod together with an announccment that Iho British Government war risk cover will end on September 10. The amended schedule received by Auckland insurance offices by cablegram from London from the Institute of London Underwriters includes the following alterations effective for sailings on and after .August W: Australia, New Zealand and Pacific [inlands.—-To and from: United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, South America, via any route, and West Indies, Persian Gulf. France. Europe, North France, not east of Malmo, V, per cent (previous rates varied from % per cent to % per cent); Baltic, east of Malmo, % per cent; Africa, Madagascar, Greece, Turkey, India, Ceylon, V A per cent (previous rates % to % per cent); Burma, Dutch East Indies, Philippines, and adjacent, islands and Malaya, % per cent (new rate).
