AUCKLAND WEDDING MOORE—ALLPRESS St. Matt-how's 'Church was the scene op the wedding on Saturday afternoon of Miss .Jewel Florence All press, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H: M. All - press, of Scott's Road, Glen Ldcn, to Corporal Moss Moore, only son of Mrs K. Moore, of Ki Niccol Avenue, Narrow Neck. Canon R. G. Coats officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dainty frock of white organdie trimmed with insets of lace and made with a low square neckline, 'full pull sleeves, a long tight bodice and a bouffant skirt. A very old embroidered veil of silk tulle, lent by her aunt, Mrs ft. Lambert, was caught to her head by a cluster of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of freesias, cyclamen and stock. Organdie frocks with pleated bodices and full skirls were worn by the bridesmaids, Natalie Allpress, the bride's sister, who was in blue, and Miss .Josephine Thom, who chose a harmonising [shade of gold. On their hair they wore sprays of flowers to match their bouquets of blue irises and daffodils re- | spec lively. The best man was SecondLieutenant Ken Carmichal and the [ groomsman Leading-Aircraftman StanIcy Fransham. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at Hay tie's Tea Rooms. CHAIR OF OBSTETRICS A second 'meeting of the women's executive of the Auckland branch of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Societv was presided over by the Mayoress, Mrs IJ. A. C. Allum, on her return from | Wellington. New members added to the i executive wore Mrs Russell Nolan, Mrs i Kenneth Myers, Mrs Geoff I'lsher, Mrs 1 Charles Nathan and Mrs Norman : Spencer. The meeting was addressed by a ! representative of the Auckland HusiInessmon's Obstetrical and Gynaecological Committee, Mr James Oliver, organliner, who gave a brief account of the | meeting recently held in Wellington in I connection with the project. It was attended, he said, by delegates from various women's organisations from as tar away as Southland. A further meeting of representatives of the Auckland ! women's organisations is being held on Wednesday morning.

MISS GRACIE FIELDS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Saturday At least 1 (XX) people greeted Gracie Fields at the morning tea reception given her by the Government in Parliament Buildings today. The Prime .Minister, .Mr Fraser, and Miss Fields spent half an hour at the door of the reception room receiving guests. Miss Field? later look part in a Maori action song with a Xgaii-Poneke party, wearing a piopio and feathered band around her head, and caused roars of laughter. Formal welcomes to the visitor by Mr Fraser and others were brief and to the point. Miss Fields said the gathering was one she would never forget. She said she was going to try to learn some Maori songs, but said her versions were going to be a peculiar Maori—very -Lancashire Maori. GUILD FELLOWSHIP The annual meeting of the Methodist Women's Guild Fellowship, presided over by Mrs E. Frost, proved highly , successful, 112 members, representing] various guilds, answering the roll call. The annual report sltowed that the fellowship had been very active during the year, executive visits, having been paid to both town and country guilds. An increase in membership was also reported. The meeting concluded with a Sacramental service, at which the Rev. E. T. Olds presided, and the Rev. W. Walker gave the pre-Communion address. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs E. Frost (re-elected); vicepresidents, Mrs W. Walker, Mrs E\ T. Olds, Mrs M. Robson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. J. C. Sibbin (re-elected). UNRRA CLOTHES DRIVE (0.C.) WHANGARBT, Sunday Organised by a committee of women, assisted by members of the Whangarei Rotary Club and other organisations. a successful collection of clothing for the liberated peoples of Europe was held in Whangarei on Saturday. Householders had been asked to have their j donations ready for collection on Satur- , day morning, and schoolboys made a house-to-house visit, while members of the Rotary Club had placed their motorcars at. the disposal of the organisation for the transport of the parcels to the Town Hall. Practically all next week will be devoted to the sorting and packj ing of the articles, which included every i variety of warm clothing for all ages. I RETIRING SECRETARY j (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Saturday After 17 years at Parliament House Miss H. T). Montague is relinquishing ! her position in the private secretarial j corps. She was the first woman private secretary, joining the staff of the late Rt. Hon. j. (!. Coat.cs in 1928. She was with Mr Coates at the time of his death and when Mr Perry was appointed to succeed him as a member of the War Cabinet she remained as his private secretary. A function was held in the Hon. A. Hamilton's room, at which tributes were paid to Miss Montague's ability, knowledge of political matters and her loyalty. She was presented with a cheque. HARMONY GROUP A musicale was held by the Harmony Group in the Fabian Club rooms when the president, Mr Walter Shepley, presided. Items were given bv Misses M. .Lnvse.v, M. Pilkington, V. lshister, Messrs G. Cornwall and B. Parry. Mr A. Pow acted as accompanist. The Caripo Trio sang vocal numbers, and there were instrumental presentations by t he Clifton Trio.
