MAORIS DISSATISFIED
REHABILITATION WORK (0.C.) KAITAIA. Thursday Dissatisfaction with the existing methods of rehabilitating members of the Maori Battalion who, after serving overseas, have returned to New Zealand, and have been discharged from the forces, was expressed by the elders of the Aupouri tribe who met at Te Kau. It was decided to ask the Government to speed up the process of rehabilitation in the Far North area. The chairman, the Rev. H. Brown, said it was admitted that a few of the Maoris had been settled on farms, but the large majority were on relief work and engaged in a variety of other occupations, waiting for their ultimate rehabilitation.
