OBITUARY MR JOHN CAMERON (0.C.) INVERCARGILL, Thursday i The death occurred suddenly at Bl»ff of Mr John Cameron, aged 74, who for the past 33 years had been secretary of the Bluff Waterside Workers' Union Mr Cameron was prominentlv associated with the industrial movement in N ew Zealand for many years. He organised ' * the first Southland Freezing Workers' Union and took a leading part in the formation of the New Zealand Water, side Workers' Federation. For many years he was a member of the national executive of the federation. For the past seven years he had been a member of the Bluff Harhotir Board and he had served on the Bluff Borouch Council both as Mayor and councillor. He was a South African War veteran. FARMERS' UNION ELECTION OF OFFICERS The 4oth annual conference of ths New Zealand' Farmers' Union, Auckland Province, was continued yesterday, when the greater part of the day was spent in committee. Auckland Hospital on Tuesday after a . brief illness. This was the first full police > funeral accorded a woman member of the force. DEATH AT 308 YEARS (0.C.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday The death has occurred at New Plymouth of Te Muranui Rangihauata, aged 108. He was a first cousin of T« Whiti Orongomai, the prophet, founder 5 of the Raukawa movement. He was well 1 known among Europeans, and during his long life was a hushfeller, farmer and stock dealer. In his younger days r he was a prominent competitor at 1 sports meetings. His direct descendants r are all dead.
