THREE-CORNERED FIGHT 963 ASPIRANTS : 245 SEATS (Heed. 7.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 14 The record number of 963 candidates are contesting the 245 seats in the House of Commons at the general elections on June 11. The campaign is a three-cornered contest between Mr Mackenzie King's Liberal Government, Mr M. J. Co Id well's Corporate Commonwealth Federation Party, and Mr John Bracken's Progressive Conservatives. The Liberals are contesting 236 seats, the C.C.F. 206 and the Progressive Conservatives 204., GESTAPO CHIEF CAUGHT LONDON. May 14 The Free Dutch radio stated that Willy Lagers, Chief of the Gestapo in Holland, who was responsible for the deportation of over 100,000 Dutch Jews, is among 10,000 war criminals who are locked in the Gestapo prison in Amsterdam. EXTRADITING I^AVAL LONDON, May 14 Til Paris radio stated that Laval will he brought to France under British protection. He will be fetched from Montjuich prison, Spain, by a British guard and handed over to the French authontia».
