GERMANS TO GO SHORT BRITISH HOTELS MAY CLOSE {Reed. 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 15 The German people will have to go short of beer so that the Allies can supply the armies of occupation and save beer for people at home. British brewers are planning t-o reopen 22 German breweries. A party left Britain yesterday for Heidelberg, where there is a brewery capable of turning out 250,000 bottles of lager a. day. If barley can be borrowed from the United States, it is hoped to have the brewery operating within 60 days. Britain is facing a beer famine resulting from a shortage of hops, bottles, labour and transport. A brewery official stated that hotels will probably be forced to close for several days a week during June and July. BLUM HOME AGAIN WELCOME IN PARIS DONDON, May 14 M. Leon Blum, 74-year-old former Prime Minister of France, returned to Paris'from captivity this afternoon with his wife, says an agency message, quoted by the British official wireless, lie was welcomed by a large number of friends and members of his family at Orly aerodrome, near Paris.
