DEATHS OF AUCKLANDERS ARMY AND AIR FORCE Advice has been received by Mrs J; Wynyard, or Gordonton, that her husband, Lieutenant Henry Guthbert Wjnyard, has been reported to have died of wounds. Lieutenant Wynyard was bora in Te Awamutu "28 years ago, and te educated at the Te Awamutu District High School and the New Plymouth High School. Before enlisting, he wm engaged in farming in the Waikato district, and for several years belonged to the Waikato Mounted Rifles. He was one of the founders of the Te Awarmutu Young Farmers' Club and of the Te Awamutu Light Horse Association. He proceeded overseas in 1942, and after two years' service with the infantry id the Pacific area returned to New Zealand on furlough last year, leaving for the Middle East in January of this year. Lieutenant Wynyard was a keen footballer, having represented Waipa. He also played for his battalion id Italy. His brother. Jim Wynyard. who was an All Black, was killed in action two years ago. He is the youngest sob of Mr and Mrs J. G. Wynyard. of Te Awamutu. Reported killed in action, Private Clement Gordon Watson was a national executive member of the New Zealand Communist Party. He was 32 years of age and, after attending the Victoria University College, he became national secretary of the Friends of the Soviet Union and- the editor of its paper. He served in the Pacific, and left for Itaij early this .year Reported to have died of wounds, Private K. C. Wells was the third son of Mr and Mrs C. Wells, of Hall Avenue, Mangere. He was 23 years of age, acd was educated at the Ngaruawahia school. He joined the Army W 1910. Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs R. E. Scott, of Morrinsville. test their eldest son, Flying-Officer Bruce Frederic Scott, has been reported missing on operations. Flying-Offirtt Scott, who was born in Morrinsville 22 years ago, was educated at the district primary and high schools. He received training in Canada, and had since been engaged in Hying from bases in England where he had been, stationed for about a year. Flying-Officer Scott well known as a junior representative footballer, and was a member of the ■Morrinsville Cricket Club
