TROTTING AT EPSOM

FIVE WINS FOR F. J. SMITH A feature of the Auckland Trotting Club's Patriotic Meeting at Epsom on Saturday was the success of the Takanini trainer and reinsnian, F. ,J. Smith. He won live events, three being consecutive races. All were well supported. Medical Student won the Churchill Handicap after a good battle with -Gallant Maid, and Volo Senwod scored a clear-cut victory in the Montgomery Handicap over Te Roto, who made a fine effort to win all the way. Smith's other successes were gained with Josio Dell, Great Belwin and the two-year-old Doctor Ted, who put up a splendid Sapling Stakes trial. The weather was fine and the track was in nice order. There was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £05,374, compared with £87,131) 10s at the patriotic meeting lan I .April, an increase of £8234 10s. Results:—-
