AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SOUTH BRITISH AT 79/There was an improved turnover on th£ Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, sales including a fair proportion of Government issues which were transferred at about late rates when account is taken of accrued interest. The recent easing in Bank of New Zealand shares continued and offers to sell at 47s 3d failed to bring business. Insurances were again strongly supnorted and South British moved up v h transfers at 795, a rise of 9d. High. . offers were made for Fanners' Auctioneering Company's ordinary shares and for Huddart Parkers. Burns, Philp gained 6d with a final sale at 675, and Hadfield's Steel sold 9d up at lis 3d.

FLOCK ROMNEY RAM FAIR (0.C.) HAMILTON, Thursday
Experts who attended the flock Romney ram fair held by the Waikato Sheepbreeders' Association at the Clandelands showgrounds today stated that it was the most successful of its kind held in New Zealand this season. Top prices were from 19 to 25 guineas Other attractive pens realised from 14 to 18 l / 3 guineas and medium sorts from 8 to 13 guineas. A line of 61 sheep from Mr F. C. Johnstone, of Waitetuna, averaged just on 18 traineas and 13 sheep from Mr W. R. Hunt, Waverie.v. averaged 20 guineas.
MINING YIELDS Emperor (Fiji).—Twelve weeks, to January 17, treated 12,336 tons for 70130z. In addition 18000S! of fine gold were recovered from treatment of stacked auriferous material. Loloma (Fiji).—Twelve weeks to January 17, 37270z from 5598 tons of ore. Blackwater (West Coast).—Four weeks ended February 2: Crushed 2.180 tons, yielding 7430z, valued at £6241. Working expenses, not including ordinary or war duty, £6250j development expenditure, £481); capital expenditure, £'477. Slab Hut (West Coast).—Week ended Febrnary 0. 560z, 19,000 yards, 118 hours.
BRITISH TOBACCO RESULTS The accounts of the British Tobacco Co. (Australia) for the year ended October 31 show a net profit of £950,188, compared with £957,149 the previous year and £957,818 in 1942. Ordinary and "B" ordinary dividend ifi unchanged at 9 per cent, reqnirinx £843,474. The o'/? per cent preference dividend absorbs £lll,lßß. Stocks have increased by a further 949,000 to £8,472,800. Holding of Government securities has been reduced by £737,000, and of cash by £410.000.
