SHOPPING HOURS
CLOSING OYER HOLIDAYS THE USUAL LATE NIGHT The customary late shopping night will be observed tonight, after which most shops in the city, apart from those dealing in foodstuffs, will close until Wednesday morning. The same procedure will be adopted over the New Year week-end. Housewives will have to plan their food requirements to last from mid-day tomorrow until Wednesday. Shops will bo closed on the following days over the holiday period: Butchers <md Grocers. —Christinas Day, Boxing Da v. Now Year's Day. and •January 2. Bakers. —Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day. and January 2. Sufficient bread will be baked to meet the demand over the holidays. Greengrocers.—All city shops will be closed on Christmas Day, but some are expected to reopen on Boxing Day. Dairies. —No concerted action will lie taken by owners of dairies, and the majority will be open for at least a portion of each of the holidays Chemists. —Suburban shops will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and January 2, except between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Two shops only will be open in Queen Street between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Notices will be placed in all shops indicating those which will be open. The all-night dispensary in Symonds Street will be available when other chemists' shops are closed Banking establishments will close hum today until Thursday morning. The Auckland"Stock Kvehange will close today and will reopen on January In. The wharve.s and the Auckland Harbour Board's office will be closed tomorrow. .Monday and I'uesday, while the viaduet bridge will be open for shipping, but closed for vehicular traffic, on the same days.
