CORONACH BLOOD BREEDING OF BALMORE . The .Avondale Stakes winner, Balmore, it owned by Mr F. IV. Hughes, of Sydney, who recently won the Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick with the New Zealand-bred Nightbeam. Mr Hughes is evidently partial to the Derby winner. Coronach, because he purchased several mares to mate with that stallion in his first season at the stud in 4he Dominion. The result was that Mr Hughes had a couple of two-year-old winners in Sydney last season by Coronach. They were Corisande and Cordiality. Corisande is from Wine Card, by Paper Money from Malmsey, by Clarence,ux, and Cordiality is from Miladi." by Weathervane from Frenzied Finance, by Paper Money. Balmore was bred' at the Alton Lodge Stud, Te Kauwhata, ans he was purchased at the yearling sales at' Trentham in Janaary on behalf of Mr Hughes for 1400 guineas. Balmore is a brown colt by COronach from the imported mare Canvasser, by Sir Cosmo from Canna, by Captain Cuttle from Bellona, by Happy Warrior. He is the only living foal of his dam, who was a winner in England as a two-year-old and as a three-year-old. Sir Cosmo was a brilliant galloper up to a mile, winning £6445 in stakes. Sir Cosmo went to the stud in England in 1931 and he has sired the winners of about £70,000 in stakes. Balmore's dam Canvasser died after foaling a dead foal to Balloch in 1943.,
