GIRLS' LIFE BBIGADE I THE AUCKLAND DIVISION A year of progress was reported at the annual meeting of the Auckland Division of the Girls' Life Brigade, which was presided over by the commissioner, Major D. Earle. The report read by the divisional secretary, Major R. Dawson, stated that there had been an increase of 11 companies, making a total of 54. There were now 156 officers, 1336 girls and 592 cadets, which made a total membership of 2084. Four business meetings were held during the year at the officers' training class, and for six months regularly instruction had been given in the following:—Knots, folk dancing, signalling, elementary and advanced drill, marching, recreational games and missionary badge work. It was decided to take only the senior girls this year to camp at Henderson on the property recently purchased by Methodists as a camp site. A satisfactory position was shown by the treasurer, Captain S. Mellsop, in her financial report. She mentioned that a group fund had been started with the object of acquiring a permanent camp site

Two officers of the Sixth AucklandWaterview Methodist company are this week completing ten years' service with the brigade and qualify for the special brooch awarded for this term. The following officers were elected: —Commissioner, Major D. Earle; deputy-commis-sioner, Major Iv. Tatton; treasurer, Captain S. Mellsop; chaplain, Rev. C. Reay; badge secretary. Captain L. Taylor. As the present divisional secretary is resigning because of battalion duties, the position was left open in the meantime until a suitable officer can be found. The meeting was followed by a Communion service conducted by the Rev. C. Welch, chaplain of the Third Auckland Company. MILITARY WEDDING SIMMS—COBB The wedding of Miss Hetty Cohh, eldest daughter of .Mr and Mrs J. N. Cobb, Eastbourne Road, Remuera, to Captain Alan Sitnins, Second N.Z.E.F. (retired from the Middle East), only son of Mr and Mrs V. Simms, of Otorohaiiga, took place on Saturday afternoon at St. Mark's Church, Remuera. Archdeacon P. Houghton officiated, Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a suit of dusky rose with blue accessories, and carried a bouquet of blue lupins, cornflowers and pink roses. She was attended by her sisters. Misses Diana and Jocelyn Cobb, who wore suits in soft shades of blue and green respectively, and carried bouquets of pink carnations and lupins to match the flowers in their hair. The bridegroom was attended by his cousins, Flying-Officer G. Howie, R.N.Z.A.F., ;is best man, and Private J. Swinbourn as groomsman, both returned from overseas. After the ceremony a small reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bridegroom has accepted a position in Suva, Fiji, and he and his bride will take the first passage available. WILSON HOME FETE A successful garden party arranged by the members of the Wilson Home branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary was held on Saturday,, when the 'beautiful grounds surrounding the institution looked their best in the glorious sunshine. There was a large number present and all the patients were in the open air. The president, Mrs Julius Williamson, presided at the opening function, when Mr H. T. Morton, M.P., gave an address in which be paid a high tribute to the management of the home under the matron, Miss T. 11. Fauiconbridge, and her assistant, Sister Burton. The medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, Dr C. B. Gilberd, was also present. The stalls and side shows set out in the grounds did brisk business and the tea rooms were liberally patronised. The Toe H band and the Takapuna band were in attendance. The takings for the day amounted to over £3OO. OTAGO SCHOOL REUNION The lounge of the Overseas League was the scene of a happy reunion on Saturday afternoon, when Miss A. L. Loudon presided at a meeting of the Auckland branch of the Otago Exgirls' High School Club. Representatives of the Epsom Girls' Grammar School Old Girls' Association and the Diocesan High School Old Girls' League were guests of the club. An excellent musical programme was presented by Mrs A. H. Beamish, Mrs Ramsay Howie, Mrs R. N. W. Reed and Misses Dorothea Franchi and June Taylor. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mies H. Alexander; president, Miss A. L. London; vice-presidents, Dr Gladys Rowley, Mrs Guy Morris; secretary, Miss L. Hendra; treasurer, Mrs R. Bigg-Withers; committee. Mrs A. H. Beamish, Mrs E. Broadbent. Mrs S. T. Carter, Mrs W. Dent, Mrs A. R. Elder, Mrs R. Johnson, Mrs W. Mcßride, Mrs Ramsay Howie and Mrs J. Thompson. CATHOLIC WOMEN MEET A large gathering of members and friends was present at the At Home of tlie Catholic Women's League. Among the guests of honour was Madame Maria Dronke. An enjoyable musical programme was arranged by Miss Mary Martin, who contributed violin and vocal solos, assisted by Mrs L. P. Bourke. who also gave vocal items. Mrs J. H. Narbeth acted as accompanist. During the afternoon a presentation was made by council members to Miss Martin, whose marriage to LieutenantCommander (E) K. L. Lee-Richards, R.N., has since taken place.

Leeks, Marton Junction, and Doreen, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Gower, Avondale.
