WELLINGTON, Friday The Bombay partnership. Messrs V. Rosenthal and F. G. Travers, have sold the three-year-old Black Simon to the Maharajah of Kashmir. Black Simon is to remain in P. Spratt's stable at Trentham. The Maharajah was the purchaser of three yearlings at the January sales, securing a half-brother to As Required, a half-brother to Nightbeam and a half-sister to Carthage. After his success in the Trial Stakes on Mondav, Mr M. J. Moodabe decided to run Martial Note in the New Zealand Derby at Riccarton next month. Martial Note will be ridden by W. J. Broughton. Martial Note dead-heated for first at his first start as a two-year-old 13 months ago, but did not win again until Monday. In the meantime, however, ho had run four seconds. Except for her winning performance in the Achilles Handicap at the Manawatu Patriotic Meeting in June, the best race Classform has run since she won the last New Zealand Cup was in the Wellington Handicap last Saturday, when she finished fifth to Glenfalloch. Patu Po. Rink and Kevin. Not prominent in the early running, Classform moved up to seventh at the mite and trailed the two leaders from the three furlongs to the distance. Classform won the last New Zealand Cup with 7.1 and has an extra 101b to carry in next month's contest. She lias done a solid preparation and should be very fit at Riccarton. The 1850-guinea colt Palissy failed to reach a place in the Wellesley Stakes, but ran a fair race, being near the middle of the field throughout. He is developing rapidly and may need time before he gains winning form. ~ . One of the best-grown two-year-olds to contest the Wellesley Stakes was Stormovik, a chestnut colt by Broiefort from Arena, dam of The Champ and Lady Nahleen. He was too gross in condition to make a prominent showing, but revealed that ho is a strong galloper. He is being raced by his breeder, Mr G. S. Walton. • Big Money., a three-year-old brother to Lotto, has raced only twice and has been unlnckv each time. He should have won at his first start at Otaki, and in tho Trial Stakes at Trentham he was one of the last three to leave the barrier. Even then he finishd a close third. It is unlikely that he will remain long in the maiden class. RANDWICK MEETING TOTALISATOR RECORD t Totalisator investments for the three days of the Australian Jockey Club's Spring Meeting at Randwick amounted to £498,006, a record. The total last year was £370.416, tho meeting being confined to three days instead of the customary four. The investments on six races last Saturday totalled £105,290, an increase of nearly £40,000 on tho figures for Metropolitan Day test year. The attendance was 00.000. compared with' 55.000 last year. Biggest pool on any race on Saturday was £37,111. Biggest win pool, however, was on the Final Handicap, the total being £14.809 10s. SIR DINGLE TO REST SPELL DURING SUMMER Sir Dingle has been sent away for a spell and he i 6 to remain out until it is time to prepare him for the late autumn and winter meetings. He has more than paid his way in the past 12 months, having won £IOBO in stakes, his best performances being his victories in the Mount Roskill Hack Handicap, ono mile and three furlongs, and the Jellicoe Handicap, one mile, at Ellerslie. At his last start Sir Dingle ran a creditable sixth in the Mitchelson Cup after making most of the running with Watchott. He is inclined to go sore when the tracks become firm, hence the decision to give him a rest during the summer. AN UNLUCKY HORSE INJURY TO REPRESENTATIVE (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Friday Since his unfortunate experience, when he injured himself severely on the return trip to Auckland from the last New Zealand Cup meeting, Representative has developed an aversion to train travel. Trainer F. Smith had an unenviable trip with him from Auckland to the Wellington meeting, tho horse doing further injury to himself in the railway waggon. His abrasions prevented him from racing at Trentham on either day, which was bad luck as Representative was just approaching his form and appeared to have good prospects in tho important spring and summer handicaps. Smith stated at Trentham that circumstances would almost compel him to restrict Representative's future racing to his home province. Representative travelled home from Trentham in a cattle truck. HAROLD LOGAN BLOOD The six-year-old trotting mare Julie, who is trained at Grcymoutli by J. C'obiirn, is a grand-daughter of the former champion pacer Harold Logan. Bonny Betty, probably (he onlv daughter of Harold Logan, who was gelded when a young horse, -was mated with Quite Sure, Julie being the result.
