AROUND AACHEN REPORT AMEEICAN SUCCESS (Hecil. 1.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sopt. 17 A communique states th&fc strong elements of the American Eirst Army have broken through the Siegfried defences around Aachen against heavy opposition. This communique is the first official notification that the penetrations have reached the proportions of a break-through. The town of Aachen ; itsolf is nearly surrounded and on the south the Americans are fighting on the outskirts.
