GERMAN "DEATH CAMP" FINDING BY COMMISSION (Reed. 5.35 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 10 The joint Polish-Soviet Investigation Commission says it has been ascertained that the Germans murdered more than 1,500,000 persons in the Maidanek "death camp" near Lublin, states a Moscow communique. The bodies of more than 600,000 were later burned in an attempt to hide the crime. The communique states that the main culprits in this crime are the Nazi Government, Himmler personally and the S.S. officials who conducted the camp. It has been ascertained that Himmler inspected the camp in the summer of 1943. FLYING BOMBS AGAIN LAUNCHED FROM AIRCRAFT (Reed. 5.35 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 10 Flying bombs, apparently discharged from aircraft, fell in various parts of Southern England, including the Loudon area, this morning. This broke the flying bomb lull which had lasted since August 31. Defending fighters scored successes against the flying bombs. One pilot shot down two in one short patrol. AMERICAN AIR LOSSES LONDON, Sept. 10 United States air forces in six days ended on Wednesday dropped 21,154 tons of bombs on enemy targets in Germany, France, Holland and Belgium, says the British official wireless. Tho total sorties means an average of 135 United States aircraft over Germany and occupied territory every hour of the day for six days, or more than two a minute. Bombs dropped average 147 tons an hour. During the period some 560 enemy aircraft were destroyed. MUNITIONS EXPLODE (Reed. 5.35 p.m.) , CHICAGO, Sept. 10 The Navy Department announces that three were killed and 56 _ injured in an explosion at the Hastings ammunition depot. Nebraska. The explosion was heard 125 miles away and smashed windows of houses nine miles away. It also dug a crater 550 ft long and 25ft deep.
