PETROL COUPONS
SALE RESTRICTIONS ALLOWANCE FOR AUGUST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday There have been no further developments regarding forged petrol coupons apart from an arrest which" has already been reported. The Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, stated today tUnt it seemed clear that, the prompt action taken when the matter was brought to notice had been effective in preventing the redemption or sale of forged coupons. However, as it was likelv that there were a number of forged coupons in existence it might be necessary to continue the sale restrictions into next month. The War Cabinet had decided that the petrol ration to private motorists for August should he at the usual half-coupon value. The Cabinet would decide, within a few days as to whether the sale restrictions should continue or not. The sale restrictions referred to by the Minister are the signing of the name of the motorist on the back of each coupon used together with the number of the motorist's car. Petrol drawn on coupons must be put in the tank of the car and not in a tin.
