AUCKLAND EXCHANGE ACTIVITY IN BANK SHARES Bank shares attracted most attention on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, no fewer than seven different issues appearing on the sales list, with values showing a hardening trend in several instances. New Zealands led the way with a sale of 1111 odd lot at 40s, the highest realisation in recent years. Improvement was also shown in the bank's J) mortgage scrip. The ordinary shares of the Commercial Bank made a further advance and the preferences, in their first local sale since November, recorded a gain of 8s Gd. There was a strong demand in the woollen section.

WIIANGAREI, Tuesday With an output of 3212 tons 13cwt of butter 3:<B tons more than for the previous season, the Whangarei Dairy Company has just completed its accounts for the year ended June 30. The t my-out to suppliers, with deferred pavnient added, will be 17.060 d per lb butter-fat. which, with the farm costs allowance of .757 d per Ih butter-fat, will make a total payment of 17.823 d per lb. The total charges per lb butter-fat to f.o.b. were 2.1(50d, hut with the factory costs allowance tile costs are reduced to 1 S9sd per lb butter-fat. For the past season the average grade of the butter manufactured was 9.3.064. a slight reduction on the grading for the previous season. RESULTS AT KATIKATI INCREASE IN OUTPUT The report presented at the annual meeting of the Katikati Dairy Co. stated that 1230 tons of butter had been manufactured during the past season, an increaso of nearly 52 tons. The average advanco payments over all grades totalled 14.093 d per lb butter-fat, the surplus remaining to be distributed after allowing .054 d per lb for payment of dividends being 1.832(1 per lb. This brought the tola! average pay-out to 16.879(1 per lb. In addition suppliers received the farm cost allowance granted by the Government amounting to .751(1 tier lb over the whole season. .
