SOLDIERS RETURN
MEN FROM PACIFIC RELEASE FOR INDUSTRY The first party of soldiers of the Third Division, Second N.Z.E.F. in the Pacific, who have been released from ! service under an arrangement made j with the British and American auth-1 ori ties, returned recently to New Zea- j land. They were accompanied by three members of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps and 23 men who are classed ao sick and wounded. The majority of the men are being released for farm work and essential industry. After their arrival the party was taken to Papakura mobilisation camp for medical and dental examination. The.y were formally welcomed yesterday by an official party, which included Mr. A. G. Osborne, M.P., who represented the Government, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, Mayor of Auckland, and representatives of the Auckland Harbour Board and Be turned Services Association. Ihe officer commanding the Northern Military District, Maior-General P. H. Bell, C.8., D.vS.O., and the Adjutant-Gen-eral of the New Zealand Military Forces, Brigadier A. E. Conway, 0.8. E., representing the Army Board, were also present.
