Sir Hughe KmiichbullHugessen. recently had two interviews with the Turkish Foreign Minister. M. Menemeneoglu, at which he made plain the British Government's views on the subject of increased Turkish exports to Germany of valuable war supplies, particularly chrome. The further question has also arisen of the proposed renewal of the Turkish commercial agreements with Rumania and Hungary. There is no reason to doubt that the British Government takes a serious view of this continued supply of important resources to the enemy. Informed opinion is that Turkey will find it necessary to examine the question in its widest aspects, from the point of view of her present and future relations with the Fnited "Nations, who are bound to take every possible step to prevent Germany from obtaining the sinews of war in the present crisis. The German Overseas News Agency, minting diplomatic circles in Ankara, states that the British and American Ambassadors to Turkey have requested the Turkish Government to cease the export of all raw materials to Germany. The Turkish Government, the news agencv adds, is said to be discussing the request. Negotiations are being carried out between ibe Turkish Foreign Minister and the British and A nieriea 11 A mbassadors.
