EASTER WEDDINGS IVIcNAUGHTON —MACKY The marriage of Miss Catherine Augusta Macky, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Macky, of Paterangi, Te Awamutu, to Mr. John David McNaughton, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. McNaughton, of Manurewa, took place on April 8 at the Presbyterian Church, Onehunga. Ihe Rev. A. J. Dow officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a suit of cornflower blue flal} cropo with a black picture hat, and carrifed a bouquet of crimson r 9® es maidenhair fern. Her bridesmaid* Miss Hazel Macky, wore a crepe frock in a toning blue and also carried a crimson bouquet. Mr. Glynn Clayton, of Manurewa, was best man. The reception after'the ceremony was held at the homo of Mrs. M. Sawle, of Mangere, where the drawingroom had been c i armin| y decorated bv Miss Mary Sawle with bowls of pink dahlias and zinnias and blue delphiniums. MOOR E —VAU G H AN St. Andrew's Church, Epsom, was the scene of the wedding on April 10 ! of Miss Rosa Mabel Heath A aughan, daughter o£ Mr. a "d Mrs. A. -- Vaughan, Golf Road, Epsom, to Mr. Robert William Moore, elder son of the late Warrant-Officer (II.) A. Moore and Mrs. Mo6re, of kelson. Ihe Rev. F. P. de L. Willis officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained frock ot white taffeta, cut on classical lines, with a heart-shaped neckline finished with tulle and orange blossom. Her 'hand-embroidered veil fell in soft folds ■from a coronet of orange blossom, and uhe carried a bouquet of white Dutch pearl azalea and cactus dahlias. Ihe bridegroom's sister, Miss Evelyn Moore, who was bridesmaid, wore a ciel-blue taffeta frock, her topknot and bouquet being of pink carnations and sweetheart chrysanthemums. The best man was Mr. Don Brown. The reception was held at the Parnell tea kiosk, Mrs. Vaughan receiving her guests in a black and white suit with black accessories. DOMINION WAR EFFORT ENGLISH VISITOR'S PRAISE (0.C.) WELLINGTON. Friday Praise for what New Zealand women are doing in their work for the war effort was given by Mrs. W. Bankes Amery in an interview in Wellington on her arrival from the South Island. In the weeks she has been in the Dominion, Mrs. Amery has had the opportunity of seeing what various groups are accomplishing, as she has accompanied her husbaud, the leader of the United Kingdom food mission, on his visits to different centres. A Red Cross worker herself, Mrs. Amery has watched what the members of this and kindred societies are doing, including the packing of parcels for overseas, sewing and bandage-making, the latter being her special Red Cross interest in Melbourne. When in England it was canteen work. Mrs. Amery expressed admiration for the smartly-uniformed women of the services in "New Zealand. She had an extra word of praise for the beret worn by the Waaf's, and thought it both sensible and becoming. One of the reallv outstanding uniforms, she considered, was the well-cut grey coat and skirt and grey hat worn by _the New Zealand Army Nursing Service, with its touches of scarlet on lapels and tabs. A fashion artist and cover designer for some of the big women's journals in England before her marriage. Mrs. Amery has an alert interest in all women's clothes, be it uniform or civilian ensemble. She thinks that New Zealand girls dress nicely and admires their fresh appearance. DIAMOND WEDDING The diamond wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Weeks, of Exmouth Road, Northcote, who were married at Sydenham Dameral Church, Devonshire, England, on _ April 15, 1884, falls to-day. They arrived in New Zealand in 1892, and Mr." Weeks took up 200 acres of virgin land in the Te Awamutu district, where ho remained for 12 years. In 1905 they settled in Northcote, where they have resided ever since. Although Mr. Weeks is now in his 89th year and Mrs. Weeks, formerly Miss Emma Hooper, is in her 88th vear. both are in remarkably good health. They have one son, Mr. John Weeks, art instructor at the _ Elarn School of Art and well-known _ in art circles, and one daughter, Miss _ 31. Weeks, who is a successful horticulturist.
