Butter lor Britain. —Shipments of butter amounting to 7,000,0001b. have been sent by Canada to Britain in recent months, says the British official wireless. These shipments have been invaluable in helping to maintain the butter ration. Australian Generals. LieutenantGeneral Sir John Lavarack has been appointed head of the Australian Military Mission in Washington in succession to Lieutenant-General V. A. Sturdee, who will return to Australia to take up a I high Army appointment.
