MEETING TO-DAY

BUS DRIVERS' DEMANDS GOVERNMENT ACTION A meeting of the parties concerned in the* Auckland bus drivers' demands for double time on Sundays and general wage increases will be arranged to-day by the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. C. L. Hunter. The president of the New ' Zealand Omnibus Proprietors Association, Mr. N. B. Spencer, said he had been informed by telephone from, Wellington last night that the Commissioner of Transport had seen the Minister of Transport, the Hon. .J. O'Brien, and had arranged for the Conciliation Commissioner to get the parties together to-day. "There is no dispute, however, between the drivers and the proprietors, but with the drivers and the Government," said Mr. Spencer. A meeting of the Drivers Union was held last night to discuss the proposed curtailment of bus services in and around Auckland next Sunday their demands are agreed to. Mr. bpencer has stated that owing to travel conditions it would be difficult for the proprietors' association to meet m Wellington this week to discuss the drivers' demands. Although there was only a comparatively small attendance, last night's union meeting lasted from 7.30 until nearly 10 o clock After the meeting the secretary, Mr. L. u. Matthews, declined to make any statement.
