UNDEFENDED CASES 25 DECREES GRANTED The petitioners in 25 "undefended divorce cases were granted decrees nisi by Mr. Justice Fair and Mr. Justice Callan yesterday. After having been married for more than 46 years, Wilson Hagen (Mr. Dickson) sough, divorce from Sarah Ann Hagen on the ground of a separation effective since 1922. The petitioner said they were married at Gisborne in March, 1897, and had had four children._ A decree nisi was issued. Evidence that her husband had committed adultery was given by Laurel Audrey Henri (Mr. Adams) in support of her petition for divorce from Louis Gordon Henri. A signed admission by the husband was put in by a solicitor, and Mr. Justice Callan granted a decree nisi. Stating that he had lived with his wife for only a fortnight, during his final leave, before he went overseas, Charles Bennett (Mr. G. Skelton) petitioned before Mr. Justice Callan to divorce from Doris Lillian Bennett on the ground of separation since April 4, 1940. Petitioner said the marriage was a rushed one. Later respondent had said it was a mistake and they agreed verbally to separate. A decree nisi was granted. The period for return was fixed at 21 days in the case of Frank Arnold Godfrey (Mr. Aekins) against Annie Isabella Godfrey, and at 14 days in the cases of Andrew Leonard Anderson (Mr. Wallace) against Victoria Alexandra Bertha Anderson; Quentin Ernest Rutherford (Mr. Newberry) against Rose Teresa Rutherford; Charles David Wise (Mr. Newberry) against Doris Alma Wise; Mary Coombe Swan (Mr. Mellsop) against Leonard Wesley Swan; Marjorie Gertrude Buchan 'Mr. Wilkin) against Douglas Leonard Buchan CUSTOMS REVENUE INCREASE AT AUCKLAND Revenue collected by the Customs Department in Auckland last month amounted to £674,982, an increase of £91,673 over November of last year. An increase was recorded from all sources. The total for the 11 months of this year is £6,660,544, compared with £5,823,004 for the corresponding period in 1942. The amounts for last month, with those for November, 1942, in parentheses, are: Customs, £209,474 (£168,291); excise on beer, £41,408 (£30,747); sales tax, £108,332 (£108,218); War Expenses Account, £315,768 (£276,053).
