EQUALITY OF THE SEXES

"Although old traditions are rejected in times of crisis, women's work is still oidy tolerated as a last resort 'for the duration,' in spite of the fact that women have proved themselves more conscientious than men, and able to do equal work, skilled and unskilled, as units of production," said Mr. R. Armstrong, in the course of an address on the "Kqiialify of Women" at a meeting of I he \ew Women's Club.

The speaker affirmed the principle oi equal pay for equal occupation and the right of women to engage both in the professions and in industry in all its branches. He urged equal status for women with men in executive positions and on juries, in Parliament and in trade unions. Maintaining that the seeds of prejudice and of social problems were sown in school life, he advocated co-education from kindergarten to university.
