RESULT OF GALLUP POLL MAJORITY FAVOUR UNITY Unity in the political field and a truly representative Cabinet, without any election until victory is in sight, found support from 54.68 per cent of the voters in the Gallup poll recently conducted by the New Zealand Freedom Association with the object of testing public opinion. on the question of the desirability or otherwise of holding a general election this year. An election this year was favoured by 31.41 per cent, and 13.91 per cent voted for a proposal to carry on as at present without an election until, say, 1944. hollowing as closely as possible the plan employed by those who conduct similar polls in America, the association distributed voting papers more or less indiscriminately by delivery in lettei boxes in scattered sections of the city and suburbs of Auckland. It also sent tliern to other people who wished to take part in the ballot, which was secret. Of the tot a 1 number of voting papers received, aJ per cent were from men and 41 per cent from women. The proposal for unity m the political field, with no election until victory is in sight was supported by 50.7 per cent of "t he men and 60.5 per cent of the women.
