TWO KILLED

HUSBAND AND WIFE CAR AND TRAIN COLLIDE ACCIDENT NEAR PAPAKURA A retired farmer was killed, and his wife suffered injuries from which she later died, when the motor-car in which they were driving yesterday afternoon was involved in a collision with the north-bound Rotorua express at Walter's Road crossing, Tironui, near Papakura. The victims were:— Mr. Joshua Handy, aged about 70, of Papakura. Mrs. Blanche Handy, aged 85, who suffered serious injuries to the head and died several hours later. Mr. Handy, accompanied by his wife, was driving over the level-crossing shortly after four o'clock when the accident occurred. The car was wrecked and the engine of the express was slightly damaged, but was able to proceed to Auckland after a delay ofJ3B minutes.
