FURIOUS BATTLES
STUBBORN RUSSIANS GERMANS REINFORCED (Reed. 1.45 a.m.) LONDON, March 18 The Russian defence from Bielgorod to Voroshilovgrad is developing greater force, says Renter's Moscow correspondent. The Germans are concentrating their chief effort near Isvum because a break through there would menace the rear of the Russian? in the Do net/. Basin area and also threaten to break the contact of their flank with the Russians on the Kursk-liielgorod front. The Germans further south are still trying to force a crossing of the Donetz. The Red Star says the enemy is bringing up reinforcements on the Donetz front. Fighting is growing fiercer each day. Both sides have thrown in powerful air forces and dogfights are occurring night and day over the front lines. Junkers 87's and 88's accompanied by a "sky full" of fighters are leading the' German tanks into battle, but the Russians are meeting every challenge. The Associated Press correspondent' says the great tank battle of the Northern Donetz has reached a fury unsurpassed so far in this fighting. The Russians are exchanging blow lor blow and holding their line along the waterway.
