NEW SOVIET MOVE GUNS SHELLING PETSAMO PROTECTION OF CONVOYS LONDON, March 17 Pushing forward across frozen Arctic wastes, Russian forces have reached a point about soven and a-half miles from Petsamo, in Finlaud. They are shelling tho town. The British United Press correspondent expresses the opinion that this new offensive is aimed at pushing the Germans farther back in this area in order to give more protection to Russian convoys bound for Murmansk. The Russian patrols are reported to bo advancing occasionally as far as the Arctic highway, which is the Germans' only supply line to tho Arctic front.
