TERM OF FIVE YEARS SYDNEY, Dec. 19 Armed with a pistol and a loaded stick, John Hampton Lappin, aged 23, and Adrian Alexander Dean, 26, assaulted Jonathan Brand, stationmaster at Yagoona, and robbed him of £6. At Sydney Quarter Sessions, Judge Studdet sent Lappin and Dean to prison for five years. Both the accused, it was alleged by the Crown, had beep concerned in an earlier and unsuccessful attempt to rob the Chester Hill railway station. They had used a stolen motor-car to escape, and the pistol used in the Yagoona hold-up had been stolen also. Judge Studdet said the stationmaster's efforts to combat the accused had been heroic, as he had been threatened with violence.
