LEMONS
Sir, —Would it not be fairer totb* public and to the growers if the Minister of AgrieultuxeTtold the truth about the lemon position in New Zealand instead of publishing figures that are . misleading? He knows as well as I do . that since the Internal Marketing Department took over with its enormous overhead expenses, the grower has received under 5s fat an 18-dozen bushel case and also thai, all over the lemon districts trees are Ifting chopped out because it does not pay to keep them. I am chopping out ttearly 300 trees and - putting down graSs. Last year I did not have 2s permease clear when I spraved, manured and paid for picking cases and cartage; etc. I am a woman and I work 14 hours and often more on the place per day, and surely we are entitled to a crnst. The Government knows perfectly well the lemon man h tottering and thft public are crying out for lemons. la Wellington there is not a lemon to b« had. If, as the' Minister tried to show, there are more lertons grown now than when the Internal Marketing took over, where are they! If the Government does not find us a fair pnea lemons will be. like eggs are going to be shortly, a thing of the past. TjisoFSTKn Grower.
