KEEN MATCHES WITNESSED The second series of championship games in the Auckland F'uotball Association competitions was played under good conditions on Saturday, and although some of the scores suggested runaway victories, even play marked most of the consists. Papakura Camp fielded a strong side, ope little short of Auckland representative stapdard, against C.R.0., which, when it has plfeyed together a few times will be a sound j combination. An interesting exhibition resultejd, particularly in the closing stages, when C.'R.O. reduced the deficit to a goal, but super*/or combination among Papakura prevailed, the team gaining a 3-goals margin. North Shore ■, turned out a young team with an average age of 17% years, the veteran goalkeeper Craxton being excepted, against Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys, in the principal fixture. In the first half North Shore w as inclined to bunch and with the strong defpnce of both sides there was no score at this interval. In the second spell sound positional play by the North Shore backs, Kessell and Booth, drove Old Boys' attacks back fjnd fast-moving play with solid combination e habled North Shore to maintain its advan'iage to win by five clear goals. Comrades had too sound a combination for Ponsonby at lie Domain. At Fowlds Park Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys B surprised by defitating Metro-College which had several of itai usual players away. Eastern Suburbs, on 'As own ground, beat Army by a flattering irjargin. Results:— North Shore, 5 (Richards 2, Nettleton, Dauby and "Vffynyard), Mount Albert Grammar Old Boyß A, 0; referee, Mr. A. Eastern Suburbs, 12 (Welch 4, Elell 4, Espie 2, Dempsey and Collings), Aifrny, 1 (Alder). Mount Albert Grammar Olp Boys B, 4, Metro-College, 3; referee, Mr. <A. Haycock. A Navy team scored 15 goals against a Dutch team, which could not penetrate the winners' strong defence. WIN FOR WALES (Reed. 7.30 -p.m.) jLONDON, May 9 The International Soccer match between Wales and 'England was won by the former by one goal to nil. The attendance was 30,000.
