AWARDED M.B.E.

CAMBRIDGE NAVAL OFFICER (0.C.) CAMBRIDGE, Friday Advice that his son, Lieutenant R. McK. Jeffery, R.A.N.V.R., has been made a member of the Order of the British Empire has been received by Mr. W. McK. Jeffery, borough engineer, at Cambridge. The date of the award and the citation have not yet been received, Mr. Jeffery's advice having come from the Australian Naval Board. Lieutenant Jeffery joined the Royal Australian Naval Volunteer Reserve in 1939, undergoing special: training at Sydney in anti-submarine work. On receiving his commission he wont to England and transferred to the Royal Navy as a lieutenant. Mr. W. McK. Jeffery has an association with the Australian Navy which goes back for more than 20 years. He was the engineer in charge of the building of the Royal Australian Naval College at Jervis Bay in 1913 and was later engaged on the naval training depot at Flinders.
