LIGHTING BREACHES

OFFENDERS FINED Four defendant.- charged with breaches of the lighting restrictions appeared before Mr. J. H. Luxford. S.M., yesterday. A plea of guilty wa3 entered on behalf of Henry Saunders, of Broadway, Newmarket, on a charge of contributing to skvglow. A fine of £5 was imposed. A similar penalty was imposed on Godfrey Thomas Budge, who admitted a breach. "These lighting signs are dangerous and the privilege of having them is subject to the responsibility of having them switched off at the proper time," the magistrate said, when fining Adams Bruce, Limited, Karangahape Road, £lO for the breach. The charge was denied, and it was stated that the light was turned off at 8.25 p.m. Frederick Rakich (Mr. Newberv), who denied a charge of contributing to skyglow, was fined £4 and costs.
