BATHING FATALITY
EFFORT TO SAVE CHILD FATHER'S HEAD STRUCK ROCK SYDNEY, Feb. 12 Diving into the open sea to save his six-year-old daughter, George Hart, aged 35, ironworker, of Balmain, was drowned at Coledale. A mark on his forehead indicated that he had struck his head on a rock. Hart and his daughter, Marcia, aged 6, and his son, Norman, 14, were bathing in a rock pool When a big wave swept the children into the sea. Norman managed to get out, and ran along the beach for assistance. Members of the Coledale Surf Club and others rushed to the scene. When they arrived, Hart was about 20 yards from the shore. His head was under the water. Three members of the surf club brought the man and his daughter out. Artificial respiration was tried on Hart, and when the ambulance and a doctor arrived they used a sparklet respirator, but he did not respond. The children were admitted to hospital, where they soon recovered.
