DEATH OF MAYOR

MR. RICHARD D. EYRE (OX!.) HAMILTON, Tnesday

The death occurred to-day of Mr. Richard Dudley Eyre, aged 74, who had been Mayor of Ngaruawahia since 1931. He was born at ParneH. Auckland. In "1883 he joined the Customs Department and was collector of customs at Blenheim and New Plymouth., Mr. Eyre was a member of the Waikato Central Electric-Power, Board, the Waikato Hospital Board and the Ngaruawahia School Committee, of which he was secretary for some years. In his younger days he took a keen interest in military activities and was associated with several rifle clubs. He is survived by four sons and two daughters.
