MATAMATA PLANTATION

(0.C.) _ MATAMATA, Tuesday A deputation from the Matamata Chamber of Commerce met Mr. F. W. Doidge, M.P., with further reference to* the preservation of the plantation near the railway station. It was suggested that the resting of the area in the Borough Council was the only positive means of protection. Mr. Doidge was later taken through the plantation and was shown where the trees had already been cut, with the alleged' idea of improving the view for those approaching the crossing, and also how the best trees in the plantation were already marked with red rings for cutting, Mr. Doidge agreed that urgent representations were necessary. '
