BY-ELECTION TO-DAY

BAY OF PLENTY SEAT The by-election to fill the Bayof Plenty seat in the House of tives, made vacant by the death in Egypt of the sitting Government inember, Lieutenant A. G. Hultquist, will take place to-day. The two are Mr. W. Sullivan, representing the National Party, and Mr. 0. Mills, the Labour Party's nominee. The seat was won for Labour by the late Lieutenant Hultquist in 1935. He was again successful three years later, retaining his seat against thß present National Party candidate by a margin of 169 votes.
