w INQUIRIES IN AUSTRALIA Head of an American wool-buying firm that has for many years handled a proportion of New Zealand wool, Mr. William L. Crowe, of Portland, Oregon, is in Auckland after having paid a business visit to Australia. He will return to the United States after making a tour of the North and South Islands, probably by air. Mr. Crowe said he had been to Australia on behalf of his firm, William L. Crowe and Company, which bought for one of the biggest wool manufacturers west of the Rocky Mountains. He had made the trip to study the wool situation in Australia, and to obtain firsthand knowledge of Australian wool classification methods. Ho expected subsequently to place orders for Australian wool, which was likely to go into products for civilian use. Mr. Crowe, who is at tho Grand Hotel, hopes to have a few .days' fishing .it Taupo before leaving the Dominion.
