A Cottage

r little cottage nestling among the trees looked lovely in the morning light. The sun was rising high in the east, dyeing the heavens with gorgeous tints of purple and gold, while rosyhued colours floated overhead. Ivy was clinging tenaciously to its old, whitewashed, weather-beaten walls. The apple and peach trees, which were now a mass of beautiful blossoms, formed a lovely background. The hedges adorned with the pure blossoms of the hawthorn looked like newly-l'allen snowflakes. Everything appeared to be smiling a welcome to a maiden who had just opened her window and was now looking at the scene. —Original, by Zita McJncrney (W)-
