Thrush's Nest
J) EAR ANNE SHIRLEY, —1 wish to tell vou about a bird's nest in our rose hedge. At first I noticed a little pile of straw in among the roses, i took more notice then, and 1 saw a big thrush carrying a little bundle of straw
—Copied by Gwen Colmer (13). in her bill continually going to the hedge. Very soon the nest was completed. Then, each day the thrush laid an egg until four eggs were in the nest. After the bird had been sitting for a while, four darling little birds were hatched. They have now got their feathers and are progressing rapidly.— Yours sincerely. Margaret Day, Paeroa.
