WATCH WITH HISTORY

The police at Southampton are anxious to trace the owner of a gold watch with a history. The watch was picked up by a soldier in woods at Bassett, on the outskirts of the town. It was partly covered by leaves and had apparently been lying there for soma time. On the back of the watch is the monogram "E.T.S." Inside the case is the inscription, "This watch was the pro-, perty of the late Sir Ernest Shackleton and was worn bv him on, the Quest in 1922."
