I Roxy and Tivoli Theatres.—The famed horror actor Bela Lugosi appears at. the head of a strong cast in the latest release of British Empire Films, "The Devil Bat," which will commence a season at the Boxy and Tivoli Theatres to-day. The story concerns a kindly physician, Dr. Paul Carruthers, who lives in the village of Heathvillo. Unknown to all liis associates, however, he has a dual personality. Feeling that he has been unjust.y deprived of enormous profits by two ir>?n, Morton and Heath, owners of the Martin-Heath Cosmetics Company, the doctor devotes his spare time to creating a giant killer bat, which he trains to react violently to the odour .of a specific scent. With liis bat he plans to get even with the two men, whom he considers are his enemies. When Morton and Heath give the doctor a cheque as a bonus for the use of a formula which has made them wealthy, the latter resents that he is dependent on them for what they may choose to give him and thinks that he too should be part owner of the .enterprise. In revenge, ho presents his intended victims with gifts of a new type of shaving lotion, which contains the scent he has taught the killer bat to hate. From here the story leads to a gripping climax. Romance and music are combined in the associate attraction "Sweetheart of the Campus," produced by Columbia. The film features Ruby Keeler, Ozzie Nelson and his band, and Harriet Hilliard.
