EMERGENCY SERVICES
ENROLMENT OF MEMBERS The Emergency Precautions Services have now reached a stage where they can be regarded .as established forces for the assistance and protection of the community in an emergency, said the Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. AlJum, yesterday. As chief warden of the metropolitan area, lie announced that wardens and workers who have not already done so are being asked either to sign enrolment and declaration forms so as to be fully attested members of the services or to return their badges and cease to be recognised as having any authority. New regulations governing the operation of the services have recently been issued. The Mayor said it was essential that the executive of the organisation should know who its members were and that they could bo relied upon to do the work that might he required of them. Membere of the Emergency Precautions Services when duly enrolled, but only then, would be entitled to practically the same rights in relation to accidents or injuries as members of the Territorial Forces. As in the case of these forces, the services would have complete rolls and an organised personnel that would be available and valuable should events call for their active operation. By facilitating enrolment and registration, wardens and workers would be contributing materially to this useful community service.
