FREE MEDICAL PLAN
AUSTRALIAN INQUIRY SYDNEY, Nov. 2f» The Svdney Sun's correspondent at Canberra says that revolutionary plans for a nation-wide free medical service have been prepared by the Australian Health Council at the request of the Commonwealth Government. The council suggests that the Commonwealth be divided into a number of health districts, with medical consultants in each district giving free service to the public. The chairman of the council, Dr. J. L. Cumpston, said the plan could be worked with ]B4O doctors throughout Australia, whose salaries would aggregate £1,955,000 a year. They would receive annual and sick leave and superannuation, and would be compulsorily retired at 65. Each State would have a central administrative staff, forming a consultative council.
