SLAVONIC BALL

A well-attended and enjoyable hall arranged by the newly-organised Slavonic Council was held in the Manchester Unity Hall on Saturday night. The council, which consists of the Czecho-Slovak Association, the Yugoslav Club and the Croatian Cultural and Benevolent Society, represents all Slavonic peoples resident in New Zealand. It supports the Allied cause and the respective free Governments in London. Funds derived from the council's activities are devoted entirely to patriotic purposes. The programme of entertainment on Saturday night included novelty and competitive dances, the music for which was played by two Slavonic orchestras. The hall committee consisted of Messrs. M. N. Ivicevich, J. Vodanovich and F. Handler, the respective secretaries of the three organisations of the | Slavonic Council.
