A VETERAN PILOT

CAPTAIN J. C. MERCER (0.C.) GREYMOUTH, Sunday A reception in honour of Captain J. C. Mercer, founder, managing director and chief pilot of Air Travel (N.Z.), Limited, who has completed his 10.000 hours in the air. was held in Hokitika last night. Captain .Mercer has never had a fatality during the period. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, attended, and paid a tribute to Captain Mercer's contribution to the development of commercial flying in New Zealand. There were a number of other speakers, and messages of congratulation were received from some of the 100 pilots whom Captain Mercer has trained for service with the Air Force.
