SECOND EDITION STILL IMPROVING
POSITION IN LIBYA TOBRUK LINK INTACT FORGING WESTWARD LONDON. Nov.. 28 The general situation in Libya continues to improve for the Allies, and the link with the Tobruk garrison is still being maintained, it is stated in London this afternoon. The mid-day Cairo communique states that the British and New Zealand forces which yesterday made direct contact are now forging their way westward in the face of determined enemy opposition. At the same time east of the point of junction enemy detachments, which are still in considerable strength, are still being engaged. Enemy troops in the Halfaya PassSidi Omar area, yesterday started to move westward with the intention of trying to link up with their main forces west of Sidi Rezegh. They were two main bodies. Shortly after mid-day the northern hody was successfully attacked by British bombers 12 miles south of Gambut. It was subsequently heavily attacked again by Allied armoured forces. , After two hours of intensive fighting the enemy was scattered and a number of vehicles were seen moving toward Gambut. Allied land forces yesterday again bad close support from the Air Force. North and north-west of El Adcm a large concentration of enemy transport vehicles was attacked. The results were highly satisfactory. NAPLES RAIDED AGAIN LONDON, Nov. 28 The mid-day Italian communique states that British, planes raided Naples again last night.
